Attendance and Academic Policies for ACP TEFL and TEFL TEA

BOTH ACP TEFL AND TEFL TEA:
TEFL teachers submit each student's attendance in every class which is recorded weekly. This is an academic certificate program. Therefore, we uphold the same standards as the University of California. Academic dismissal from the program occurs if you do not pass any of the courses. A 'C' or better is required to pass your courses.

Students in the TEFL TEA Program must have a minimum of 80% attendance show rate to pass the program. This is calculated by class. For example, a student cannot shift other hours from other courses to cover for a course that falls below the 80% requirement. A TEFL TEA student cannot receive a certificate if this same 80% attendance requirement is not met.

Examples of Unacceptable Reasons for Absences:
  • Sleeping in
  • DMV/traffic/transportation problems
  • Picking up friends/family at the airport
  • Taking tests such as the TOEFL or TOEIC
  • Classes outside of UC Irvine
Please give any doctor's notes to the TEFL Academic Coordinator.

Academic Honesty
Any form of cheating, including plagiarism, will not be tolerated.  Students are expected to complete their own assignments, as directed by instructors.  The first time a student is caught cheating or helping someone cheat, that student will receive a '0' on that assignment without the possibility of making up the assignment.  The second time a student is caught cheating, the student may be dismissed from the program.

Communication/Electronic Devices Policy
No recording (audio, video, photos) is allowed in class unless approved by the TEFL teacher.
All electronic communication devices must be muted and put away in a bag or other place out of sight and away from the individual.
