Q: Do I have to purchase UCI health insurance?
A: All students are required to have health insurance. Most students buy UCI health insurance. However, if you have your own health insurance and your insurance meets our minimum requirements, we can waive the UCI health insurance fee. Click here for more information about health insurance.
Q: Where can I park?
A: You have to pay for parking everywhere at UCI. For details about prices and how to buy a permit, go to the UCI parking website: http://www.parking.uci.edu/permits.
DO NOT park in the Student Health Center parking lot, which is right next to the ESL Office.
DO NOT park in any space marked "Reserved," "AR," or "Service Vehicles Only."
DO NOT park in handicapped parking spaces with a blue sign with a wheelchair symbol.
DO NOT park at the shopping center across the street and walk over to campus. You will get a ticket if you park in any of these places!
Q: Do you offer conditional acceptance into UCI?
A: No, we do not offer conditional acceptance into UCI. However, we recommend you take a look at our University Preparation programs on our website here: http://unex.uci.edu/international/university/. These programs help prepare students to apply for admission to UCI or other universities.

Q: What is the Student Services fee? Why do I have to pay this every quarter?
A: The Student Services fee is a quarterly fee assessed to all international students to provide funding for student services and activities that make significant contributions to student development and program enhancement. These include orientation and culmination events; recreational activities; academic field trips; academic, immigration and cross-cultural counseling; language and cultural exchange through the Communication Club; and TOEFL testing opportunities. These activities and services supplement the academic curriculum and cultural experience for students studying in programs offered by International Programs at UC Irvine Extension.

A: Smoking at UCI is limited to certain designated smoking areas, such as an area near green umbrellas next to Building H. Smoking is NOT allowed within 25 feet (about 8 meters) of any doorway or window that can open. Please be considerate and put your trash in the appropriate containers, not on the ground!
